Developed by WesCEF in partnership with the Kwinana Industries Council (KIC) and Murdoch University, the Bright Sparx Club provides Year 8 students with the opportunity to raise their confidence and aspirations while building their awareness of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers.

After a successful pilot program at Rockingham Senior High School in 2016, applications this year were opened to a further 19 schools in the Kwinana and Rockingham region. For the 32-place program a total of 55 applications from seven schools were received.

The program runs one night a week for a period of 10 weeks and sessions are supported by both Murdoch University undergraduates and WesCEF STEM-career volunteers. The students participate in a range of STEM activities including coding, robotics and forensic science in addition to excursions to CSBP Kwinana and Murdoch University.
