Bunnings UK and Ireland is committed to reducing its carbon footprint through greater energy efficiency, as well as the further rollout of renewable energy systems.
In November 2016, an LED lighting trial in Homebase Peterborough highlighted benefits beyond energy cost savings. The sustainable fittings also reduced maintenance costs and created a brighter working and shopping environment for customers and team members.
New LED lighting has now been rolled out to a further 77 stores, this meets key financial hurdles and has reduced energy consumption by eight per cent.
The successful program is due to be extended throughout 2017 to an additional 32 stores, removing all high-bay lighting fittings from the current network.
